AC Milan vs Tottenham live score, updates, highlights and lineups from the Champions League last 16

Antonio Conte will patch himself up to return to the San Siro touchline when Tottenham take on AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday.

Conte has foregone medical advice by travelling with his squad 11 days after having his gallbladder removed, but it is understandable that the former Inter Milan head coach wants to take a more active role after his team were hammered 4-1 by Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

Stefano Pioli’s Milan took the Serie A title from Inter last season but have been in dismal form since the turn of the year, only ending a seven-match slump without a win by edging past Torino 1-0 at the weekend.

Sporting News is following the match live and providing live score updates and commentary.

AC Milan vs Tottenham live updates, highlights from Champions League last 16

1hr 15 mins from kickoff: Here’s the Tottenham team, which is pretty much as you’d expect with the personnel available. Emerson Royal comes in at right wing-back, with Pedro Porro dropping to the bench after his nightmare weekend debut at Leicester. Clement Lenglet gets the nod over Ben Davies on the left of the back three.

1 hr 40 mins from kickoff: Antonio Conte returns to Milan, where he masterminded Inter’s charge to the Serie A title in 2020/21. However, he’d unquestionably like to be back at San Siro in better circumstances. Firstly, he really shouldn’t be here according to medical advice, after having his gallbladder removed 11 days ago. Secondly, he’d probably like to have a few more central midfielders. News that Rodrigo Bentancur will miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury is a seismic blow to Spurs over the long-term. In the short-term Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is suspended and Yves Bissouma is injured.

Team news will be with us shortly and expect a Tottenham central midfield of Oliver Skipp and Pepe Sarr on the logic of “any warm body…”.
