College football schedule: What bowl games are on today? Times, TV channels for Dec. 24-27

The holiday season is firmly in motion. What better way to celebrate than bowl games?

Many eyes will be fixed on the New Year’s Six bowl games slated to occur on the dawn of the 2023. But there’s a host of intriguing matchups on the docket before that happens.

Some involve glitzy Power 5 teams. Others center around Group of 5 standouts. One even revolves around a pair of stateside rivals.

Regardless, it should make for an enthralling watch. Between the balmy beaches of Honolulu, the picturesque fields of Alabama and the bustling backdrop of Detroit, the bowl games taking place over the next few days, each matchup should have a distinct feel to it.

Middle Tennessee State vs. San Diego State

The lone bowl game from Christmas Eve pits a pair of Group of 5 fixtures against one another. Middle Tennessee State takes on San Diego State in the Hawai’i Bowl. It’s been a rather difficult season for the Aztecs, at least compared to their triumphant 12-2 slate in 2021. Nevertheless, under Brady Hoke’s tutelage, San Diego State has already captured one piece of hardware. It’ll be looking for trophy No. 2 when it clashes with the Blue Raiders, a side that also claimed victory in their bowl game last year.

The first bowl game to take place after Christmas, the Quick Lane Bowl, should be a doozy. It sees 6-6 Bowling Green take on 6-6 Mexico State. The Aggies are seeking their first bowl victory since the 2017, and have enjoyed a resurgent campaign in head coach Jerry Kill’s first year in Las Cruces.
