WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — Now that more people are getting vaccinated and new reports of COVID-19 cases are going down, the urge for summer travel is starting to pick back up.
This time last year, when the COVID-19 pandemic was just beginning, travel largely stopped. At that time, Travel Leaders, which is a travel agency in Wausau, said they were busy cancelling vacations for residents.
Now that its getting closer to warmer weather and vaccines have been to rolling out since mid-December, they have been busy making travel arrangements once again.
“We literally had people in here last week and this week planning travel and they are leaving in a week or three,” said Ann Hunger, President of Travel Leaders.
While things are starting to pick back up and spring break is right around the corner, Hunger said it’s still not quite as busy as it was this time in 2019.
She suggests that travelers check the COVID-19 protocols for their destination before traveling and advises getting insurance.
