Virgin Atlantic, Eva Air Announce Health Passport Tests - Business Travel News

Virgin Atlantic and Taiwan’s Eva Air each are conducting trials of health passport platforms on select routes, the carriers announced.

Virgin Atlantic is running two separate trials. On March 29, it will begin using the TrustAssure platform on flights to the United States, with which travelers can upload Covid-19 test results to a website and, once verified, receive a QR code to use at check-in. Virgin Atlantic currently is operating five routes to the United States from London Heathrow: New York’s John F. Kennedy International, Los Angeles, Boston, Miami and Atlanta.

Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic’s joint business partner, began using TrustAssure for inbound travel to the United States earlier this year.

On April 16, Virgin Atlantic also will start a one-month trial of the International Air Transport Association’s Travel Pass platform on flights from London to Barbados. The app creates a digital passport that includes a photo, passport details and Covid-19 test results, and the Barbados government has agreed to accept the pass at the border.

Eva Air, meanwhile, announced it is partnering with digital platform Affindi to verify negative Covid-19 test results. The carrier has been using the platform, which provides a QR code to verify test results, on flights from Singapore to Taipei, and it now plans to expand that to include flights from both Malaysia and Indonesia to Taipei.
