The fourth and final major of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season is here, and even among golf’s premier events, it is a special occasion.

Not only will the Open Championship celebrate its 150th playing, not only will it return to the venerable Old Course at St. Andrews, but this also could be the final time we see golf’s greatest ambassador play the historic venue.

Will this be Tiger Woods’ final playthrough at St. Andrews? It appears that may be the case, as Woods has intimated in numerous interviews. Of course, that is simply his new reality — and golf fans’ — as he continues to recover from a life-threatening 2021 car crash.

There was no way Tiger would miss this Open Championship at his favorite course, as he told PGATour.com on July 5.

“This is a pretty historic Open that we are going to be playing,” Woods said. “I’m lucky enough to be part of the past champions that have won there, and want to play there again, and I don’t know when they are ever going to go back while I’m still able to play at a high level.”

Woods’ appearance at the Open Championship makes this tournament appointment viewing. But there are other golfers to monitor as well, including the winners of the first three majors in 2022: Scottie Scheffler (Masters), Justin Thomas (PGA Championship) and Matt Fitzpatrick (U.S. Open).

With that, The Sporting News has everything you need to watch what could be a historic Open Championship:
