The Chiefs and Packers are set to duel in freezing conditions at Lambeau Field on Sunday. And although both sides find themselves in vastly different situations heading into the affair, one way or another, it should prove critical to the sweeping carousel that is the postseason race.
Kansas City (8-3) has picked up where it left off last campaign, beating up on the league’s minnows to rocket itself up to the top of the AFC West. Andy Reid’s squad hasn’t been quite the juggernaut its proven to be in years past — such is the case when your receiving corps is the most ineffective in football in terms of dropped passes. Still, when you have Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Chris Jones, you have a chance.
Green Bay (5-6) meanwhile finds itself in the opening stages of a new era. Jordan Love has been solid in his first season as a starter, even bringing the Packers on the cusp of playoff contention.Love’s been a guiding light through 11 games. But he’s not alone, either. Romeo Doubs has seven touchdowns on the year, while Preston Smith, Rashan Gary and Kenny Clark have combined to form one of the more underrated back lines in the whole of the league.

Still, this is football at its most brilliant. Slimey, tender, ruthless and respectful. All within the confines of the pantheon of NFL excellence. What could go wrong?

9:54 p.m.: Mahomes does it again! Delicate touch pass between the Magic Man and Kelce results in yet another first down on third-and-long. Kelce’s up to 81 yards on four grabs. Kansas City is threatening to breach into the red zone.

End of second quarter: Packers 14, Chiefs 6
9:10 p.m.: FIELD GOAL! Kansas City’s explosive offense has been held in check thus far. Despite showing flashes of what they can accomplish, the Chiefs were held to another field goal in this one. Yikes…

8:39 p.m.: TOUCHDOWN! Love hits Ben Sims for his first career touchdown! Great throw, great catch, and an even better drive. Doesn’t get much slicker than that to start the game.

8:28 p.m.: A.J. Dillon bursts through the mire to pick up the first down on third-and-short. Decent start for the Packers so far, who have climbed down the gridiron with relative ease in the opening few minutes.
