Chase looked to have suffered the ailment after getting caught in a fog of Minnesota defenders while fielding a 24-yard laser from Jake Browning on third-and-long.
Chase moved the chains on the play. He left the game shortly thereafter, though. Chase strutted around the sideline slowly while holding onto his shoulder. He went back into the game one possession later, but soon would depart again after seemingly aggravating his issue.Ja’Marr Chase #RuleTheJungle
Gets landed on here and grabs at his chest. Likely a minor rib injury.
Good news is he only missed one play so this shouldn’t affect him rest of game. pic.twitter.com/IT6ydcnbL0— Tom Christ, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT (@FantasyInjuryT) December 16, 2023

The Bengals ruled Chase as questionable for the remainder of the game. He was soon designated as being out for the remainder of the game, returning to the sideline cloaked in a black hoodie instead of his usual black-and-orange armor after heading into the locker room for a short spell. The Bengals wound up winning the game 27-24 in overtime.
Chase exited the game with four catches for 64 yards against Minnesota’s menacing defense.
Here’s the latest on his injury.
Ja’Marr Chase injury update
Chase left Saturday’s win against the Vikings with a right shoulder injury, according to the team. He did not return to the contest after sustaining the injury.
Following the win, coach Zac Taylor said he did not have any further updates on Chase’s injury.
On Sunday, Taylor said Chase has an AC joint sprain and was considered day-to-day, per Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway.
However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that Chase’s injury will keep him out for extended time. Per Rapoport, Chase is expected to miss the Bengals’ Saturday contest against the Steelers and could miss time beyond that.
