NFL insider Peter Schrager projects Steelers grab offensive weapon in first round

The Pittsburgh Steelers hold the 20th pick in the first round of the coming NFL Draft, and will look to make the most of it.

It’s already been a busy offseason for the Steelers, who brought in quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Justin Fields with hopes that one of them will be able to bring a spark to the offense.

According to one NFL insider, Pittsburgh will be looking to use their first pick in the draft to get some more offensive help.

NFL Network’s Peter Schrager projects that the Steelers will take LSU wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. with the 20th pick. That said, it’s not the only option Pittsburgh will have to reload at receiver.

“I’m still keeping an eye on Steelers GM Omar Khan to make a splash at wide receiver this offseason. Could that be a trade for Brandon Aiyuk?” Schrager wondered. “If not, Thomas is a special talent who helped himself at the combine as much as any player at the position.”

The Steelers have some room open on the depth chart at receiver heading into 2024 after moving on from Diontae Johnson in the offseason.

Thomas had quite a season for the Tigers last year, putting up 1,177 yards over 68 receptions to go along with 17 touchdowns.
