Yankees are first team to 10 wins after 3-2 victory over Marlins

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon put together his best outing of the young season Tuesday night in a 3-2 win over the Miami Marlins at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees are the first team to reach 10 wins on the season, which is just another testament to how strong the start of this campaign has been for the Bronx Bombers.

3 Stars of the Game

  • OF Alex Verdugo: The Yankees’ left fielder is slowly putting together better at-bats, and his solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning was the difference.
  • OF Aaron Judge: The Captain had a perfect night with a rocket double to go along with three walks.

  • SP Carlos Rodon: This was easily Rodon’s best outing of the season. More on that below.

Carlos Rodon’s encouraging start

In fact, it was the best outing he’s had since joining the Yankees during the 2022 offseason. He hadn’t thrown six scoreless innings since donning the pinstripes. He was immaculate until his final inning, working mostly off his changeup and slider. Ian Hamilton came in with the bases loaded and even though he allowed two runs to score, both credited to Rodon, he finished out the inning with the lead intact.

Here’s Rodon’s final line:

IP H R (ER) BB K HR Pitches- Strikes Whiffs
Carlos Rodon 6.0 4 2 (2) 2 6 0 89 – 58 12

The Yankees are going to be without Gerrit Cole until at least the end of May. The Marlins don’t pose much of a threat, but it’s still encouraging that Rodon dominated the majority of this outing.
